Encroachment
How can I love thee
While willows wave careless
Among airy blue skies?
How can I feel as free
As a breeze
That gently sways
Through a midsummer's garden.
Vibrantly blooming;
The sun and earth
Bestow constant grooming;
Nourishment by nature.
Heaven's rains
Wash tepid tears away, alas,
The collective dust on petals fair.
How can I love thee
While dandelions dance
On beds of blackened soil?
Darkness touching roots
As my own feet glide
Effortlessly above this earth?
On angel's wings I am guided
Down from Heaven's grace,
If only to find you
Mockingly occupying this space.
Your laughter rings
And sings out
Songs of furthermore.
Future plans and dreams, they drown
As you tightly shut that door.
And, so I stare at tomorrow's end.
Beyond what cloudless night
Lies the nevermore.
I ask this of my torrid soul
"How can I love thee?"
As I love with every ounce.
How can this love grow
As the vibrant gardens do below?
From this place
Of fairness and grace,
It is that which I ponder.
Ah.....But I do.
Forever in time,
I love thee, lover of mine.
