A Road Traveled

I've taken this walk before
Treaded this ground
Worn these scars,
Yet, never before, my love
Was the walk this treacherous;
the ground this soft;
the scars this deep.
Each day with you
Is new and frightfull.

With each breath of fresh air
Is a new fear realized.
Welcoming and warm
Like Snow White's Apple;
Irresistably dangerous.
The calm within the storm,
I feel the tensions
Mounting on all sides
I prepare for the aftermath.

The devistation after the thrill.
Why on earth did I open up
To let the cold winds in?
Will I survive this walk?
Will I be able to stand on this ground;
Yet more heavily weighed
Will I heal from these new scars?
Only you hold the answers that I seek.
