In Darkened Lair

You come and smother
Leaving me helpless and cold
And then you vanish.
Slinking into the darkness
Leaving your scent behind.
You are my last wish.

My breath, you take
My thoughts, you muddle
I've ran from you before
Yet unknowingly toward you
Confused, I go with the flow
I run for more.

In dreams my feet have no connection
To the earthly ground below
Your eyes guide me restlessly through
Weaving in and out of heaven's light
Urging me forth with conviction
Ignoring my lack of desire for you.

Why do I find myself helpless to you
So weak and unsure of your intentions
Yet sure I've no business here.
Somehow, I cannot control the direction
The darkness hides all strength and will
Allowing my heart to fill with fear.
